Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the VivaDub extension and website process and why. We collect only what is needed to translate and dub the video you are watching and to count usage limits.
What we collect
A random anonymous ID created when you install the extension; your email address if you sign in with Google; how many seconds of translation you have used (to apply free and paid limits); your interface language. If you sign up for the launch notification on our website, we store your email and the page language — only to send one email when VivaDub launches. The form is checked for bots by Cloudflare Turnstile.
Audio and text
While translation is on, the audio of the current tab is streamed to our server only to recognize, translate and voice it. We do not record or store audio. Recognized text and translations are not saved to our database, and our server logs do not contain what was said.
Service providers
To work, the audio and text are passed to: Deepgram (speech recognition), Google Cloud Translation and Mistral AI (translation), Google Cloud Text-to-Speech and Microsoft speech services (voice-over). Our database is hosted by Neon. Our server runs on Cloudflare (USA), through which the audio and text pass between the extension and the server. If you sign in with Google, Google processes the sign-in, and we receive only your email address. These providers process the data under their own privacy policies.
Stored only on your device
Your settings, translation history and usage statistics are kept in your browser and are not sent to us. You can clear them in the extension or by removing it.
What we don't do
We don't show ads, don't sell your data and don't track you across other websites.
Retention and deletion
Your ID, email and usage counter are kept while you use the service. You can ask us to delete them at any time. Launch notification emails are deleted after the launch email is sent, or earlier on request.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
Public statistics
Unless you turn it off in the extension (Advanced → “Share anonymous stats”), we add your translation minutes to public totals by language pair and day. These totals contain no ID, email, IP address or website addresses.
